The Discover Yogyakarta: A 5-Day Adventure of Culture, Nature and Thrill tour is a 5-day, 4-night package that mixes temples, volcano, caves and coast: Borobudur and Prambanan, a Merapi lava jeep tour, the Ramayana Ballet, Jomblang Cave’s Heaven’s Light, Elo rafting and the gondola ride at Timang Beach. Prices start from IDR 4,550,000 per person for international visitors. It includes airport pickup and drop-off, 4 hotel nights with breakfast (2 people per room), temple tickets, the Ramayana Ballet ticket, the Jomblang Cave tour with lunch, both jeeps, rafting and a tour guide. Restaurant meals and the Timang gondola and bridge are extra.
Picture it. You are standing at the rim of a dark sinkhole, a harness clipped on, and the guide says the hardest part is simply leaning back. Below you, a cave swallows the daylight. Ten minutes later your feet touch the floor, you look up, and a column of sunlight pours through the opening like a spotlight on a stage.
That is the kind of moment Yogyakarta saves for people who go beyond the postcards. The same trip that takes you through the grandeur of ancient temples also puts you on a 4×4 jeep across old lava tracks, in a rafting boat on the Elo, and on a clifftop beach where a gondola crosses the sea.
Here is how five days in Yogyakarta unfold.

Your driver meets you at Yogyakarta International Airport, and the city’s royal side comes first. You visit the Sultan Palace, the Taman Sari Water Castle and Kotagede, the old centre of handmade silver. In the late afternoon you head south to Parangtritis Beach for the sunset, then check in at your hotel in Yogyakarta.
The day starts on the slopes of Mount Merapi, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes. You ride a 4×4 jeep around the foothills and see the landscape of earlier eruptions. Then you visit Prambanan Temple, and in the evening you watch the Ramayana Ballet staged at Prambanan before heading back to the hotel.
Safety note: hiking Merapi itself was still officially prohibited as of July 2026, according to Backindo, because the volcano stays at alert Level III. The jeep lava tour stays on the foothills instead. Always follow your guide and the latest volcano advice.
After breakfast at the hotel you visit Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. Then comes Elo rafting, a splash of fun after a morning of stone and history. You end the day on Malioboro Street, where street musicians and street food fill the evening.
Borobudur tip: the temple is in Magelang, Central Java, outside Yogyakarta city, and has two ticket types. A ground ticket covers the park and courtyard, while a structure ticket lets you climb the temple with a guide in a fixed time slot, with the climb limited to around 1,200 visitors a day. The package lists a Borobudur entrance ticket, so ask the team which type is included if climbing matters to you.
This is the thrill day. You visit Jomblang Cave, a vertical sinkhole where a beam of sunlight can shine into the cave in good conditions (lunch after the tour is included). In the afternoon you ride a jeep to Timang Beach, famous for its clifftop gondola and rope bridge to a rock island.
Your driver collects you from the hotel. If time allows, you can stop at places near the airport before the transfer. Trip complete.

The trip page shows prices from IDR 4,550,000 per person for international visitors. Budget separately for restaurant meals, the optional Timang gondola and bridge (SGD 32 per person for both), and souvenirs.
It suits you if you want temples, culture and adrenaline in one trip, are happy with active days, and like having transport, tickets and a guide arranged.
Think twice if you dislike heights, caves, water activities or early starts. Jomblang Cave involves a vertical descent, Timang’s gondola crosses open sea, and Borobudur’s stairs are steep.
The trip page lists no fixed departure dates, so ask the team for your dates. Weather affects jeep tours, rafting and the beam of light in Jomblang Cave, so check the forecast and volcano advice before you travel.
